I had planned to start dead-heading my coneflowers today since they are almost faded out and not very attractive anymore....but then I looked out and a Goldfinch was enjoying breakfast on coneflower seeds so I have decided to wait for a few more days..and then maybe I'll just cut the most faded ones. My pictures aren't the best but they were taken through the screen and the window both and it was the best I could do..Sew until next time....have a Stitches kind of day..

On April 13, 2015, I posted about my flying geese quilt and embroidered pillow that I made with Robyn Pandolph fabrics. I also made this little wallhanging to hang above my bed and I used co-ordinating RP fabrics to go with the quilt. The outside of the hearts are paper-pieced (not my favorite method to do) and the center is hand embroidered. The whole piece is hand quilted by me too. I am linking with Super Mom-No Cape today so hop over there and check out the rest of the entries. I think it is always fun to see what others have made with their embroidery. Sew until next time, have a Stitches kind of day......................come back soon!!

I would like to introduce you to my buddy, Priscilla. She came to live with me about 30+ years ago. I worked on her all winter the year that I made her. She has been a faithful companion and has sat in the corner of my living room continually and has never complained about it. So, here is Priscilla, still young in spirit, if not in age...I am linking up with Super Mom-No Cape today again, I hope you will hop on over there and see the rest of the links too. .. The Wish Quilt, a free pattern so generously offered by Red Brolly. She still has the pattern on her site if you want to save it. It's a very scrappy quilt and I like that look a lot. I have had the blocks all embroidered for sometime now but there are a few applique pieces still yet to do and I'll do them as I piece each block, that's my plan anyway. So I took the leap and pieced the first block, I'm not sure that I like the heart block so it may get replaced but I'll show you and see what you think about it. I haven't embroidered the antlers yet either so I guess it isn't officially "done" but I wanted to show it to you anyway. I am open to comments from you so feel free to tell me if there is something I can do to improve the look. Do you like the print fabric that I used on the left side?

I worked on these blocks and a few more over the weekend and now I think I have some tendonitis in my wrist so I best not embellish anymore for a few days. Darn!!! Sew until next time, I hope you have a Stitches kind of day............................

Last August, I subscribed to a new Block of the Month..I had a guilty conscience doing it and it took several days to talk myself into it because I have "several" BOM's stored in containers that I haven't even touched, most a few years old..but this new BOM was wool applique and I had not done any wool applique. So that was my persuasion to myself to order it. The pattern is How Does Your Garden Grow by Norma Whaley and my monthly blocks come from Primitive Gatherings Quilt Shop. I have been 95% satisfied with the fabrics they send and have only replaced a couple of them. Sometimes it's scary to do this as it can get quite expensive but I had very little wool so I thought it was the wise way to go.. I decided to do a little beading on them so here are the first 4 blocks that I have done. They have been a lot of fun to do. I have all of the blocks finished, just haven't done the embellishment on the rest yet.

Do you remember the His and Her's pillowcases? They were popular many, many moons ago. I embroidered this pair when I was in high school. I remember using the colors that were recommended and I thought it was very daring to use lime green with lavender/purple and blue..then aqua to outline the letters...and bold pink flowers!!! But I have always loved these colors together and now I treasure these pillowcases. And I crocheted the edging too!! A couple of years ago, I dug them out and they were so yellowed with age so I soaked them in Oxyclean several times for several days and they came out sparkling white again. This was just a little trip back in time as I made them over 60 years ago and I still love them even though there isn't a "His" anymore. :-( I wonder what my kids will do with them when I'm gone? Treasure or trash???
I linking today with Super Mom-No Cape, you should go check out what others have shared with us if you like hand embroidered pieces..Sew until next time, have a Stitches kind of day..............

Here is a cute little pillow that I made a few years ago to go with a quilt that I made for my bedroom. It says "The flower garden is also my garden of thoughts and dreams...The thoughts grow as freely as the flowers and the dreams are as beautiful." I loved the sentiment and the flowers around the border. I used just one strand of floss to embroider them. It was a free pattern off the internet and I'm sorry that I don't remember where I got it and I haven't found the pattern since, if anyone knows, please let me know. The quilt is used on my bed spring through summer, it is really pastel and I always look forward to putting it on the bed every year. The fabric collection was called "Secret Garden" I'm pretty sure and Robyn Pandolph was the designer. Still one of my favorite collections.
Super Mom-No Cape. She hopes to have a Linky party every Monday for something embroidered that you want to share. Click on the link above and go check it out, you will find her blog very interesting to browse around. ......Sew until next time, have a Stitches kind of day..................

Wednesday afternoon I hosted our Mini Quilters Group so I decorated a little early for Easter. I don't have any St. Patrick Day decor so Easter it was! I have to go on the hunt for St. Pat's Day decor, maybe I can find some on sale this year.
I served chocolate ice cream cake roll, filled with Mint Chip ice cream, drizzled with hot fudge sauce that I made too. Then I used a little green paper doily on a Miss America plate...that was my representation for St. Patrick's Day, I guess! We had a little chatter and even got some sewing done too.
