The Facts of Life in the Digital Age

I copied the joke from Judy Martin's last newsletter, I thought it was so funny. Thankfully, I'm way past the time when I would have to have this talk with my kids!!

A little boy goes to his father and asks, “Daddy, how was I born?”

The father answers, “Well son, I guess one day you will need to find out anyway! Your Mom and I first got together in a chat room on Yahoo. Then I set up a date via email with your Mom, and we met at a cyber cafe. We sneaked into a secluded room, and googled each other. There your mother agreed to a download from my hard drive. As soon as I was ready to upload, we discovered that neither one of us had used a firewall, and since it was too late to hit the delete button, nine months later a little pop-up appeared that said, “You’ve got male!”  ;-)

Artisan Bread-My First Loaves

I was reading Esther's Blog the other day and she was talking about baking Artisan Bread and how easy and how good it is. I've been making bread since I was in high school but have never tried this method.  It is easy and it is good. I used a 10" cast iron griddle to bake mine on and it really worked fine. The picture shows both loaves on the griddle but I only cooked one loaf at a time on it. I just think it looks so darn pretty. Well, that's it for tonight, just wanted to show you my bread...you should try it.  Check out Esther's blog right here: http://estheraliu.blogspot.com/2012/05/rainy-day-artisan-bread.html  Not only does looking at her bread, make you want to make some but she has some awesome applique patterns..I think her applique is one of the best!!! Sew I hope you had a Stitches kind of day.....see ya soon...

Fairie Garden Progress?

This is not my Fairie Garden House, so don't get too excited...

My Fairie Garden progress is next to nothing..However, I did get the trunk cut down to the size that I think will work..The above picture is one that I took in someone else's yard. That's more or less what I want to do with my tree trunk. I did get it cut down, now I'm waiting for my guy to come and build my roof..he said he would be here last Monday or Tuesday but so far, I have not seen the white's of his eyes!!!  I guess I must call him again soon.

It was a big trunk..
Can you see the Fairie Garden House????  I hope you will in the near future, they say Patience is a Virtue, well, how am I doing?????

My Fairie Garden Future Home

I have been planning and looking for fairie garden "stuff" since last winter. I have been buying a few plants, and couple have been given to me and I want to get started!!! I've been nursing the plants along now for over 2 weeks and they need to be in the ground. But alas, I have a tree trunk that needs to be cut off and I can't seen to get anyone here to do it. I have contacted a tree cutter twice this spring and he has never shown up. What's a person to do??  The picture above is the  future home of the fairies, not very attractive, is it??
But I have already had a visitor..Remember my encounter with the tree frog last year? http://stitchesscrapsandtidbits.blogspot.com/2011/07/visitor-in-my-bedroom.html   He's back!! Well, of course, I'm not sure if it is the same one and I highly doubt it actually but whatever.....I heard him (I'll call him, a him since I don't know for sure) last week when I was working in the yard and then I found him on my rusty garden gate the other day. He looks so big in the first picture but you can see a small white blob in the photo below and that is the tree frog.  The black line on the tree is the cutting line guide for the tree cutter. ( I just saw him at a school event this afternoon and he said he would be here on Monday or Tuesday!!! And then I can get started on my Fairie Garden, I'll keep you posted)  Sew until next time, have a Stitches kind of day..
